There was a reason ..

There was a reason the candles burnt themselves into tiny pieces

There was a reason for the flame to flare up notches

There was a reason why no one questioned the intensity and counted the hours light would live

There was a reason in each and every curiosity

A strangled mind played its role and nothing was left to seal the soul

Like complete wanderers they all disappeared

Into the darkness with candles in their hands

Everybody had that one cautious look

To arrive home safely before the candle got overcooked

None paused to think that the candle could itself have survived by mere fluke.
